Intern with the Labor-Religion Coalition of New York State this Fall

Labor-Religion Coalition is looking for 2 motivated interns for fall 2019. We are a non-profit social justice organization based in Albany, NY, working to unite faith, labor and community in a statewide movement for social, racial and economic justice. Our current focus is coordinating the New York State Poor People's Campaign, part of a nationwide movement to end systemic racism, poverty, militarism and environmental devastation.

Interns will have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas, based on their particular skills and areas of interest.

Organizing: Learn and practice basic organizing skills (campaign planning, meeting facilitation, canvassing, direct action planning, one-on-ones).

Social media/communications: Help manage LRC's social media accounts and website. Learn about and help do press outreach and strategy.

Fundraising/development: Learn about grassroots and grant fundraising and help plan a fundraising event.

Interns will also have the opportunity to help plan and participate in the New York Poor People's Campaign People's Assembly, to be held in Painted Post, NY Oct. 27-29. The People's Assembly will bring together 200 grassroots leaders from across New York for relationship-building, skill-sharing, and planning the NY PPC's next steps.

Interns will also join a weekly reading/discussion group with LRC staff to reflect on social movement building and deepen their own understanding and analysis.

NYS Labor-Religion Coalition’s office is located at 800 Troy-Schenectady Rd., Latham. Access to reliable transportation is preferred but not required. Remote work will be considered for the right candidate. Apply by sending a resume and cover letter to emcneill@labor-religion.org with subject line “Fall Internship”.
